Marigny / Bywater

Located just East of the French Quarter, the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods are designated as an official Historic District.

First settled in 1806, the district is lined with timelessly stunning and well-preserved historical residents and landmarks. From colorful shotgun doubles to quaint Creole cottages, the Marigny / Bywater has recently transformed into a trendy and affordable neighborhood. Intermingled into the neighborhood are commercial and industrial structures that help to complete the more urban-like landscape.

The neighborhood is a perfect fit for all personalities with its abundance of artisan galleries, live music venues and locally founded, casual digs. You can spend weekends strolling the St. Claude Arts District or a quiet walk in Crescent Park on the riverfront, visit Frenchmen Street, or enjoy an evening of entertainment at the Marigny Opera House.
