Historic French Quarter
Affectionately referred to as the Vieux Carre’ the French Quarter is New Orleans’ oldest and most historic community in the state.
Founded in 1718 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville, a French Canadian naval officer, the Historic French Quarter exudes a mysterious and romantic charm with its cobblestone streets and an eclectic assortment of residential and commercial properties.
With its ornate architecture, the French Quarter is a grand collection of French, Spanish, Creole, African, and Caribbean influences. From cast-iron galleries and beautiful bricked courtyards to colorful Creole cottages and townhouses, a walk through the Vieux Carré displays a splendid collection of multicultural heritage and timeless appeal.
